Aesop for Children
Published in Hardcover by Checkerboard Pr (May, 1991)
Authors: Aesop, Checkerboard, and Milo Winter
Average review score:

Not quite what I was hoping for
Although the stories are - for the most part - enjoyable, I found the prose a bit awkward and much of the vocabulary too flowery and grand for younger listeners. I got a lot of blank stares from my 6 year old as I read a few of them, and oftentimes found it necessary to reword the phrases into something simpler and easier for him to understand. Also, the morals aren't always clear. For example, "Do not be too hard to suit or you may have to be content with the worst or nothing at all". Quite a mouthful for a kindergartener to digest. Also, the moral "Do not try to ape your betters" from the Monkey and the Camel sent my son into hysterics. Like I said, it doesn't seem to really be written for the very young, unless you're prepared to stop every other sentence and define the oftentimes flowery and ill-placed vocabulary words for your child.

Best Buy For Children!!
My students loved this book. It's a definite hit. If you love fables and fairy tales this is a must! Also nice to add to your collection are: Grimm's complete fairy tales (Grimm), Great Children's stories (Richardson), The Butterfly (Singh). There are many other great children's books out there, but these were the ones I enjoyed the most. Oh, and I almost forgot the two classics that no children should ever be deprived of: The Little Prince (Exupery) and Charlotte's Web (White).

The best money you'll spend for a book.
This collection of some of the most memorable of Aesop's Fables is written in clear and elegant prose, beautifully illustrated, and perfect for pleasure reading and instruction. We use it as part of our homeschooling writing exercises. Our daughter reads a story, rewrites it in her own words, and illustrates it. We discuss the saying that attends each story and also the phrases that have become the common property of all people, for example, "a wolf in sheeps clothing". I cannot say enough good things about this book. At its low price this must be one of the best bargains on the planet. Enough said.

The Aesop for Children: With Pictures by Milo Winter
Published in School & Library Binding by Children's Book Press (March, 1985)
Authors: Milo Winter and Aesop
Average review score:

King James Version
The illustrations are great and my son insists on reading a minimum of three fables every night. However, the fables are written using wording and morals that require a good bit of translation and explanation -- just like reading the bible -- into today's language. This was definitely a great buy!

FABLES FOR FUN; MORALS TO LIVE BY!
THE AESOP FOR CHILDREN WITH PICTURES by Milo Winter is a wonderful storybook full of stories every child should own. Aesop's fables are short stories with a moral at the end. This is a beautifully illustrated hardcover book that will last much longer than a paperback version. I highly recommend this out-of-print edition over the paperback that is readily available just for this reason! This book is very well organized and has mostly small illustrations (either 3x5 or 5x7; but eleven are full-page illustrations!) The moral is in italics at the end of each fable so it is easy to spot. Sometimes I choose a moral first and then read that fable to my daughter.

There are a total of 112 fables! I will not list them all but some of the more popular ones which happen to be my personal favorites: THE FOX AND THE GRAPES, THE LION AND THE MOUSE, THE SHEPHERD BOY AND THE WOLF, THE CROW AND THE PITCHER*, THE DOG AND HIS REFLECTION, THE HARE AND THE TORTOISE**, THE FOX AND THE CROW, and THE NORTH WIND AND THE SUN. (The * means my favorite-- ** means my second favorite.)

THE AESOP FOR CHILDREN WITH PICTURES has so many fables I am confident that you will find your favorites as well as discover many new favorites! I highly recommend this book full of wisdom and morals for anyone at any age! Enjoy this alone or with your children or grandchildren!

Healing from Cancer: A Balanced Way to Live
Published in Paperback by Balanced Way (June, 1999)
Author: Antonia G. Milo
Average review score:

A sensitive and informative account of one woman's healing.
I found"Healing From Cancer" to be a thoughtful and insightful book which explores one woman's journey from dis-ease to a state of well-being. In this book Ms. Milo describes how she dealt with her diagnosis of breast cancer. She also discusses the responses she got from the world of allopathic medicine as contrasted with the realm of alternative treatments. I enjoyed reading her odyssey from illness back to health and found it to be a fascinating account which touched upon various alternative healing techniques including diet, acupuncture and meditation. I thought this book contained a lot of valuable information not only for someone who has been diagnosed with cancer but for anyone who is interested in improving their quality of life.

An MD looks at alternative Medicine
My friend Antonia has written a little book that will offer hope and comfort for all those with cancer, born out of her rightful authority, from the undisputed fact that by all medical standards she has cured herself of cancer, not by the traditional five year cure ,but in fact by the almost twenty year cure. As a physician who believes in alternative medicine I commend her for a careful review of the many different methods of alternative treatment which she outlines , with many references for the reader to follow up on ,as well as her reasons for her own choices. Perhaps we are only now beginning to realize the infinite power of the mind, when combined with a healthier diet, exercise and a will to succeed .

The Journal of Milo Thatch (Atlantis: The Lost Empire)
Published in Paperback by Hyperion (Adult Trd Pap) (June, 2001)
Author: Preston B. Whitmore
Average review score:

Very good
This book gives you the "behind-the scenes" look at Milo as he travels to the lost city of Atlantis. I would've given this book 5 stars except for the fact that it follows the movie almost exactly, so I knew what would happen next. But other than that, Milo's comments and thoughts are very cool!

Great insight
Great inside look of the film through Milo's eyes from which you normally couldn't see. Highly recommended for instance it reveals exactly how he feels about his spark with Kida!

Milos Forman: A Bio-Bibliography (Bio-Bibliographies in the Performing Arts)
Published in Hardcover by Greenwood Press (September, 1987)
Author: Thomas J. Slater
Average review score:

In depth, well researched and of invaluable assistance.
A well researched book that reads more like a university thesis. Offers a brief synopsis of Forman's films (up to and including 'Amadeus' -1984) and critical analysis. Of invaluable assistance to students studying Czech cinema or any of Forman's films.

Must Get book for Milos Forman fan
This book cannot be sat in a coffeetable. It only feeds on your eyes. I really enjoy this book. Interesting and personal. I, Hannah Han loved this book.

My Life on the Plains
Published in Paperback by Univ of Nebraska Pr (May, 1989)
Authors: George A. Custer and Milo Milton Quaife
Average review score:

Custer's biography of his Plains adventures
Called by Frederick Benteen, "My Lie on the Plains" this is Custer's personal description of his adventures on the Plains. Of necessity it minimizes his Court Martial and other acts of ommission and commission because of Custer's self-view. Notwithstanding this the book gives insights into the psychology of a man who wished to become a legend and did. Any student of Plains History and Custer's part in it, must certainly read the man's own words.

Fascinating insight into a colorful military man
This book lets the reader into the mind of one of America's most fascinating military men, George A. Custer. He shows his talent for writing and vividly paints a picture of what life was like on the Western Plains. This book is a MUST for any student of the Old West or military historian.

Tour of Duty: 50 Inspiring Stories from Our Men & Women in the Armed Forces
Published in Paperback by Fair Winds Press (May, 2003)
Authors: Lynne Marie Rominger and Milo James
Average review score:

Tour of Duty
Milo James and Marie Rominger have put together an excellent collection of short stories about the men and women of our armed forces. I spent 25 years in the Marine Corps and could relate to many of the stories. The real life accounts in this book brought back many fond memories of places I have severed and the many friends that I made. Many of the stories reminded me of the war stories my father use to tell me as a small boy when he would recount to me his adventures during World War Two. The stories were all well written. As I read many of these real life accounts I felt in several cases like I was actually there with the service member reliving these events. As a former member of the military and a history buff I would highly recommend this book.

Dittoheads & nabobs of negativism both will appreciate this!
I'm a hardcore conservative, my wife a reluctant liberal (she's still hanging on for dear life, though, bless her heart), and we both loved this book. It shows the character of the people who consider patriotism and freedom important enough to back up w/ real sacrifices. I wish this were required reading for everyone.

Captures reality!
Short of actual service in the military, this book is the best, closest way for someone *existentially* to know and understand what it is like.
Tour of Duty presents the most compelling - and readable - collection of narratives I have ever seen. Though someone who has not read the book may be put off by its military association, let me say that it is not militaristic triumphalism nor is it political in nature.
The book captures the reality of military service in human terms, not just the surface-level fighting and weapons (as so often is the case). The relatively brief passages present the fullness of the human experience: from friendship to panic, from frivolity to horror, from sadness to joy.
Through riveting narration, the reader actually enters into the stories. Their experiences become our experiences. Do not be surprised if you find yourself laughing out loud or crying when you read some of the stories. Their power is overwhelming-- because it is all so very real!

But, much more than a wonderful emotional ride or a mere litany of personal experiences, the stories give the reader an insight into what these men and women in the service think and feel. From the humanitarian chaplain working with those in need, to the fighter pilot fighting for survival, we are given access to their common motivation: love of freedom, love of county, and a sense of service.
Tour of Duty is not only a book that I can respect; it simply has become one of my favorite books!

Manara Erotic Tarot
Published in Cards by Llewellyn Publications (October, 2002)
Author: Milo Manara
Average review score:

Manara Tarot
While the images are stunning, they do not seem to match the astrological meanings of cards. Like in the Thoth Deck, each card in the Manara Tarot has an astrological association printed on the card. For example, the 4 of water has the astrological symbol of moon in cancer. Moon in cancer relates to depth and intensity of emotion, home, and domestic security - the image of this card show a woman in a stream with a water bucket being startled by indians (native americans). Most cards in this deck are off like this and tying the meaning into the picture is a strecth at best. These astrological symbols are more in line with the traditional meanings of the tarot cards despite the images.
I do like the use of the elements as the suits; this deck had so much potential, but it seems that little care or effort went into making it usable as an indepth study into tarot using sexual symbolism (which is why I bought this deck).
If you're a collector of tarot decks and want something different, this is a good deck - if you're looking for a usable tarot deck with sexual symbols and archetypes, pass.

Erotic art tarot is a sensual journey
The Erotic Tarot, illustrated by Milo Manara and published by Lo Scarabeo of Italy, uses vibrant artwork and a healthy serving of humor in a lusty and wide-ranging erotic journey. This deck features erotic play, exhibitionism, voyeurism, B&D, and some S&M. Each card is marvelously unique and boldly colored, in the suits of water, earth, fire, and air, and the accompanying booklet provides upright and astrological meanings. One of my favorite cards, the 4 of Air, shows a young, waifish nude woman in untied work boots, holding a yellow parasol, suspended as if on a swing on a curl of movie film, looking skyward into an early yellow morning. Collectors of erotic decks, or those who prefer a less explicit deck, may want to check out The Tarots of Casanova, illustrated by Luca Raimondo, also produced by Lo Scarabeo.

The Magic of Tarots and the sexy Art of Manara
Milo Manara's girls are famous in every Countries. The pathos in Manara's art is great outside book too: imagine a set of amazing painted gals mixed with the magic of tarots... and you'll have the secret of this masterpiece. For the best art & comics collectors only.

Taboo : Sex, Religion & Magick
Published in Paperback by New Falcon Publications (01 April, 2001)
Authors: Christopher S. Hyatt, Lon Milo Duquette, Diana Rose Hartmann, Gary Ford, and Robert Anton Wilson
Average review score:

good, but...
This book would be really good for someone who has never been exposed to the writings of Hyatt and DuQuette before. It has a lot of good info on sex magick and the psychology of sexuality. The problem I had with it is that it really doesn't contain much information that isn't available in their other books. If you're a big fan of the two authors, look it over, but it's basically a rehash of older material.

Get Your Body Moving
a delightfully insurgent work that reminds those of us who live in basic freedom what is so good about it.

Taboo really dabbles in the realm of exploring your inherent right to use your body as you see fit (in gentle consensuality with chosen others). This is not for the NFL/Lonestar beer set that just wants to get their groove on. This work is for those who consider sex to be a highly sacred, enlightening experience worthy of the most assiduous effort and unbridled, maximum joy.

Intelligence and ritual do play an intrinsic role in fits of ecstasy. This book deftly bridges the gap between "Masters and Johnson clinical" and "in your face indulgence" rendering a delightful and accessible (not to mention highly mystical) middle ground available to those with the proper focus and stamina.

If anything, the book provides keys to becoming more sensitive to the finer nuances of human beings' favorite pastime.

Enjoy!

AN OUTRAGEOUS LITTLE MASTERPIECE FROM HYATT & DUQUETTE
The following is a review of this spicy little bombshell written by Leticia Marquez of Magical Blend Magazine:

Robert Anton Wilson says of "Taboo"...

"I assure you that what you are about to read is obscene, lewd, blasphemous, subversive, and very interesting, and that all right-thinking people will agree that it should be banned, bowdlerized, censored, suppressed, and burned by the public hangman...I think it is safe to predict that almost every organized group of idiots in this country will regard this book as extremely dangerous."

Wilson is probably right, Taboo's challenge to unite sexual and religious practices probably won't go over well with the New Right. But for the rest of us, the authors present a roller-coaster of a read complete with case histories, theories, and secret sex rituals of interest to both "adepts' of esoteric sex cult societies as well as "ordinary" people. Full of interesting quotations and anecdotes from alchemists, sex magicians, and vampires--not to mention old Yawey himself--this is a fascinating a colorful work that seems predestined to upset many people in our sex-negative society. Those who believe that taboos are made to be broken, however, should find Taboo and enjoyable and entertaining read.
